EAR PIERCING

The First Steps On Your Ear Piercing Adventure

A piercing is a monumental moment in most people’s lives, especially the first, which more often than not tends to be the ear lobe. With it’s delicate positioning and the vast array of earrings available, it’s easy to understand why it is such a popular choice.

If you’re considering this piercing option for yourself, there are a few things to think about beforehand, including the process. The last thing you want is to commit to a permanent body modification that isn’t from a reputable studio and to be left upset with your decision.

So, we’ve put together the five most common steps that people go through before putting ring to ear. This will help you on to do thorough research before getting your gorgeous new piercing.

The Decision Is Made

The first step in getting your ears pierced is deciding that you actually want them piercing in the first place. Some people may opt for more adventurous piercings, such as the tragus (the cartilage at the front of your ear covering your ear canal). Or a cartilage piercing at the back of your ear.

At H Hogarth, we’ve found that the most common first-time piercing is that of the earlobe, and indeed is the only one that we offer in store.

When deciding where to go for your piercing, you want to ensure that you are going to somewhere that has experienced, reputable piercers. Who are able to offer you reputable advice and help.

Other things to look for are that the earrings used for piercing are hypoallergenic. (This assists in the healing process). And that the place you go to offers a check up after six weeks to ensure that it has healed correctly.

Checking prices may also be a key-determining factor for you. At H Hogarth, our ear piercing service in Kendal starts from £17.50 depending on the style of earring that you choose. We also offer 10% off your first pair of earrings.

The Big Moment

Once you have chosen the style of stud you want, it is time for your lobe piercing. You may be nervous, but once the area is sterilised, you will find yourself much more at ease knowing that you’re in the hands of experts. Judy and Nicola have accumulated many piercings between them at H Hogarth. They will be more than happy to look after you throughout the process.

It may also be a good idea to bring along a friend or family member. Not only because it’s an exciting time and you want someone to remember it with, but also because they may be able to calm any nerves you have.

Remember, if you are under the age of 18 then you must bring a parent or guardian. Or have written consent to enjoy our ear piercing service here at H Hogarth.

Letting them Heal

A typical lobe piercing takes around six weeks to heal.

After six weeks, you should revisit the establishment where you had your piercing to ensure that it’s healing well. You may be able to choose your second pair of earrings and some more jewellery if you’d like a few more pieces for those special occasions.

Choosing More Jewellery

Once your ears are healed, you’ll notice that there is an array of options out there for you. We offer a selection of drop earrings, hoops, and studs. You’ll soon find yourself building a collection that allows you to enhance your personal sense of style. We even have a great range of statement earrings.
