We invite you to visit our two jewellery shops on Branthwaite Brow in Kendal, where you can relax & enjoy a professional & friendly experience. Our knowledgeable team are on hand and dedicated to give you the best possible service. The current H. Hogarth was established over 85 years ago and are a progressive family run third generation business. Cyril Robert Hogarth bought the jewellers in 1923, he also dispensed spectacles, frames and glasses. H. Hogarth Jewellers on Branthwaite Brow, Kendal are believed to be the only jeweller's shop in the world with highly distinctive, diamond patterned, cast iron walls. Staff training has always been of prime importance as the framed certificates on the wall show. Most members of staff have the professional jewellery diploma and others are registered valuers and gemmologists.

Buy online

For those of you who are unable to visit one of our shops, you are still able to browse and purchase most of our collection. You will find high resolution images accompanied by a short description of the item entered by a member of our staff. Although we may be unable to give you face-to-face advice when you are shopping online, our staff are on-hand within working hours by telephone and email if you have any queries or require any advice.

We have tried to make the experience of shopping online here at H. Hogarth as easy as possible, here are the steps you need to use this service:

  1. Find what you're looking for:
    • Use the search box at the top right of the screen by typing in one or two keywords. For example: 'Silver Necklace' or 'Nomination Charm'.
    • Browse the shop by either selecting a category from the navigation menu at the top of each screen, or browse by brand by placing the cursor over 'All Jewellery' and selecting the brand or collection from the drop-down.
    • When you are browsing our listings you may filter the items that are shown to you by clicking an attribute on the left menu. For example brand, material, gender, stone, price.
    • Make your selection and check that it's available to buy online.
  2. Add your chosen item to your bag
    • Enter the quantity desired and click 'Add to Bag'
    • Carry on browsing the shop, adding as many items to your bag as you like.
  3. Buy it online:
    • View you bag by clicking on the bag at the top right of the screen.
    • Check you are happy with the order before proceeding to checkout.
    • You have the choice whether you would like to checkout as a guest or whether you would like to register with us so you can skip this step for a future order and if you chose so, we can send you updates on new brands, lines and offers.
    • Complete your personal details
    • Tell us where you want it delivered - see delivery information for your choices
    • Enter your payment details
  4. Review your order

We will send you an email confirming your order shortly after you have placed it.

Security

We do not process any of your credit/debit card details on our servers, whenever you make purchases on our website you are redirected to Sage Pay's site to complete the transaction. Sage Pay has a worldwide reputation for being a leading Payment Service Provider. Read more about how SagePay keeps your data safe.

Once you have completed the transaction with Sage Pay you will be redirected to our website for confirmation that the transaction was a success.

Delivery Information

Delivery Options

You may chose one of several delivery options during checkout. Below is information regarding each method.

Standard delivery – £5 (Free for orders on or over £35)

You can have your order delivered to any address in the UK by Royal Mail Recorded: Signed For 1st Class.

  • Orders placed using standard delivery should arrive within 3 - 5 days (excluding Sundays), although it may arrive the next day.
  • Delivery time is likely to be between 9am and 5pm.
  • You can check the status of your order in your account page.

Next Day delivery - £7 (£5 for orders on or over £35)

You may chose to have your order delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery Next Day. Your order will be delivered by Royal Mail and will need to be signed for. Our Next Day service delivers on Saturdays.

  • Orders must be placed before 2pm to guarantee delivery next day, any orders after this time will be delivered in two days.
  • Next day delivery does not deliver on Sundays. Orders made on Saturday will be made on Monday.
  • Delivery time is likely to be between 8am and 6pm.
  • You can check the status of your order in your account page.

Please note: delivery times are likely to be extended over bank holidays.

Delivery to Store - Free

If it is convenient for you to collect your purchase from one of our shops then you may do so and avoid any delivery costs. For security purposes, the person who placed the order must collect it along with the payment card used on the transaction, together with the order number.

Returning an item

Please contact us if you would like to return your order, if the item is faulty then we will cover the cost of postage. Goods must be returned in their original condition including packaging. For hygiene reasons we cannot exchange or refund pierced jewellery such as earrings unless they are faulty. Any queries can be answered by phone or email.

There are two easy ways to return an item:

  1. Return to one of our shops for an immediate refund or exchange
    • Place the unused item into its original packaging.
    • Bring along your dispatch note along with the item.
    • If the item is in its original condition, we will process the refund or exchange for you.
    • If you require a refund, please bring with you the credit/debit card used in the original transaction
  2. Return by post
    • Contact Us with information regarding your situation.
    • Place the item into its original packaging if possible along with the dispatch note that came with the item.
    • If the item is in its original condition, we will refund via the credit card used to place the order.

Returning a Gift

Refunds for gifts can only be made to the payment card used to purchase the goods. If you buy a gift online, the recipient will not be able to get a cash refund if they want to return the item. If the recipient does want to return a gift, we will exchange it for a gift card to the value of the gift.

Cancelling an order before dispatch

If you change your mind after placing an order, you can cancel it at any time before we despatch it by telephoning or emailing us. You will need to provide your name and address details, as well as your order number.
